Meddo's Chief George Barn Name: "Chief" Chief is the senior citizen of the team at the ripe old age of 19! But, don’t let his age fool you. Chief is still “fit as a gazelle” according to Mieke Wouters, groom and caretaker of the team. As the oldest horse, he has a lot of experience and a wonderful disposition. Last year Mieke gave the Aulson grandchildren (ages 4 and 6 years old) riding lessons on Chief. Chief has a love / hate relationship with Socks. He is the boss and he tries to bite her when they are in the field and sometimes even in the team. But, as Mieke says, “Don’t take Socks away from him because then he will scream ALL DAY LONG and he will dig holes in the stall”. Chief loves to go on the Marathon and in cones! Chief sits out Dressage because he can’t keep up with stride of the bigger horses in the team. But he is THE Marathon man and a great leader. With his age comes a lot of experience and he is very fast in the hazards. Since he a smaller horse, he can make tight turns and is very quick. He responds instantly to the reins, David’s voice and his “magic whistle”! Chief loves the cones and is the right leader. He watches for the sets of cones coming up on the course and always tries to avoid hitting one!
